Welcome to SwarmPatrol!
We have built SwarmPatrol.com for the convenience of the general public and the Beekeeping fraternity so as to enable better and quicker communication of swarms and feral colonies which need to be removed. We hope that this will save more bees from simply being exterminated by Pest Control companies, but relocated to new homes by friendly Beekeepers.
Additionally we hope that the site will create an opportunity for you, the Beekeeper, to sell more of your honey and other bee related products directly to the public.
When a swarm is reported by a member of the public, the GPS location of the swarm is recorded by the system and the closest 3 registered SwarmPatrollers will be immediately notified by a text message to their cell phone . The message will contain the contact details of the swarm reporter as well as the location of the swarm. It is important that you record your cell phone number in your profile. The first available SwarmPatroller will be able to negotiate the removal of the swarm.
Once the swarm has been collected, we ask you to record this in your profile with the date of collection and optionally the fee that was charged. We hope to be able to analyse the fees charged and provide feedback to you on average fees in various areas. You can also at this point add any photos of the swarm for the Gallery.
If you are notified of a swarm from other sources and you collect one, please record it in the system using the “Self Registration of a Swarm”. This will enable us to keep track of as many swarms as possible without the need to notify anyone.
We welcome any comments and suggestions how to improve the site as we want to make it a source of important bee collection data for the future.
